Geese Management Plan: http://www.springcreeknv.org/what-s-happening-in-the-hoa-.html
Background: Complaints from the public about the geese feces making the parks unusable have increased significantly over the last several years. The continued growth of the goose population has outgrown the SCA’s ability to keep up with cleaning and turf repair. The population of geese is increasing far beyond levels that the Association is able to maintain. A core population is setting up permanent residency and not migrating. Since the majority of areas where the geese congregate have very few natural predators controlling the population, it is easy for them to not migrate.
We need dogs and drones to help us with the management of the geese. Goose Patrol is not about dogs chasing geese; rather it’s about the presence of the dogs. Whether your dog is under perfect control off-leash or needs to remain leashed to remain under control, our member experience can not be negatively affected by Goose dogs running loose and out of control. SCA Parks & Recreation will use multiple methods to keep geese away, including pyrotechnics, lasers, spraying turf, noise, and of course the presence of Goose Patrol. It’s critical that you understand that a dog on a leash can be just as effective at removing geese from the beach as a dog off leash. Again it’s all about the presence of the dog. The geese see the dog as a predator and they typically see a person as a food source.
